LED flicker and its hazards

What is LED flickering

When talking about the flicker of light source, we often use the word "stroboscopic". Then, what is stroboscopic? Stroboscopic, as the name suggests, is a flicker due to frequency.

The stroboscopic phenomenon of light source means that the light emitted by the light source changes rapidly and repeatedly with time, which makes the light source jump and unstable, that is, the depth of luminous flux fluctuation of electric light source. The greater the fluctuation depth of luminous flux, the more serious the stroboscopic. The essence of light source stroboscopic is the fluctuation of luminous flux. Driven by AC or pulsed DC, the luminous flux, illumination or brightness change correspondingly with the periodic change of current amplitude. Human eyes and human brain have a subjective response to this change. The fluctuation depth of luminous flux of electric light source is directly related to the technical quality of electric light source.

Stroboscopic effect needs to be treated differently from stroboscopic effect. Stroboscopic effect refers to the harmful effect of electric light source caused by the fluctuation of luminous flux, that is, the harmful effect caused by stroboscopic. The more serious the stroboscopic effect of electro-optic source is, the more serious the stroboscopic effect is. Stroboscopic and stroboscopic effect are two mutually causal physical quantities that characterize the fluctuation depth of electric light source and luminous flux and the size of the resulting harmful effect (called stroboscopic effect), that is, stroboscopic leads to stroboscopic effect.

Hazards of light source stroboscopic

Now people not only pay attention to the physical performance and effect of lighting, but also pay great attention to the Photobiological Safety of lighting. The stroboscopic light source can stimulate people's visual system and produce uncomfortable feeling. Generally, flicker can be divided into visible flicker and invisible flicker according to people's feelings. When the frequency is greater than 100Hz, human eyes cannot feel flicker, but it will still cause eye fatigue and headache. This is the consequence of stroboscopic. It is generally believed that this effect exists within 500Hz.
